Farah Khan Announces Tees Maar Khan Release Date

This Christmas, audiences are in for a big treat with Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan which is set to release on the Christmas Eve, December 24.

Says Farah, "I'm really happy that we will be releasing Tees Maar Khan on the 24th December, 2010. TMK is a very kid friendly, holiday season kind of film, full of fun, big dance numbers and action comedy. It's just the kind of film you'd want to watch in the holidays."

Still in its filming stages, Tees Maar Khan is already in the news for its leading jodi Akshay Kumar & Katrina Kaif and director Farah Khan's track record for delivering two super-hit films.

Says Akshay Kumar, "Tees Maar Khan will be our gift to audiences this holiday season. It's a great film with a great script and with Farah you know you're in for a treat with larger than life scenes, great music and hilarious dialogues. The movie will have you laughing uncontrollably."

Tees Maar Khan is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd. and Shirish & Farah's home production Three's Company Pvt Ltd. and co-produced by Akshay Kumar's Hari Om Productions.

Once again The Bachchans will be seen together in the forthcoming long waited project of Ram Gopal Verma 's Sarkar Raj.After getting married to Abhishek this is the first time when Abhishek,Amitabh and Aishwarya will work again together.

Synopsis:-
When Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai - Bachchan), CEO of Sheppard power plant, an international Company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra, before the Nagre's and insightful Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) is quick to realize the benefits the power plant cant bring to the people. After convincing Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan) who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilize support of the masses.

However, things are not what they seem to be, from shady fixers with an eye on multi-million kick-backs or wannnabe Shankars that are ready to incite millions of people against the highly controversial project in a state that is witnessing the worst of coalition politics.
Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield, it is in this backdrop the evil forces mightier than ever, mushroom and gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.

Fan Kisses Sonu Nigam

The heartthrob of millions of girls, Sonu Nigam, was forcibly kissed by one of his female fans, while performing in Mumbai.

Sonu was performing live, when suddenly a girl from the audience jumped on to the stage and kissed the singer. However, Sonu appeared to be not really bothered by the incident. "I’m absolutely fine, I have no issues. I could comfortably complete the show", he told Zee News.

The singer, who was initially stunned and was seen blushing throughout the show, later said, "I enjoyed it".

SHARMILA TAGORE TURNS 64 TODAY

Today Sharmila Tagore (Begum Ayesha Sultana) turns 64 who born on 8th December, 1946 is an Indian film actress. She has won several National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards for her performances.

She has led the Indian Film Censor Board. In December 2005 she was chosen as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

EARLY LIFE:-

Sharmila Tagore was born in a Hindu Bengali family in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India to Gitindranath Tagore who was then Dy. General Manager of the British India Company owner of Elgin Mills. She attended St. John's Diocesan Girls' Higher Secondary School and Loreto Convent Asansol.

CAREER:-

Tagore began her career as an actress in the 1959 Satyajit Ray film Apur Sansar (The World of Apu), as the ill-fated bride of the title character. As noted on the official website for Ray, "She was just a fourteen-year-old then, with no previous acting experience. As the shooting began, Ray had to shout instructions to Sharmila during the takes. None of this, however, is reflected on the screen. Ray cast her in his next film Devi too." She appeared in a number of Ray films, often co-starring with Soumitra Chatterjee.

She established herself as a popular Hindi film actress with Shakti Samanta's Kashmir Ki Kali in 1964. Samanta again cast her in many more hit films, notably An Evening in Paris (1967), the first appearance on a two-piece bikini of an Indian actress,(Sadhana had appeared in one-piece bikini in earlier films) which not only shocked conservative Indian audiences but also set off a wave of bikini-clad actresses carried forward by Parveen Babi (in Yeh Nazdeekiyan, 1982), Zeenat Aman (in Heera Panna 1973; Qurbani, 1980) and Dimple Kapadia (in Bobby, 1973), but established Tagore's role as somewhat of a sex symbol in Bollywood. Wearing a bikini put her name in the Indian press as one of Bollywood's ten hottest actresses of all time, and was a transgression of female identity through a reversal of the state of modesty, which functions as a signifier of femininity in Bombay films. But, when Tagore was the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, she expressed concerns about the rise of the bikini in Indian films.

Samanta later teamed up Tagore with Rajesh Khanna for movies such as Aradhana (1969) and Amar Prem (1972), where played the role of Pushpa, the courtesan in city of Kolkata, again opposite Rajesh Khanna, who himself gave his often quoted dialogue in the film, "Pushpa I hate tears..". Other directors paired them together in Daag (1973), Maalik (1972) and Safar (1970). She starred in Gulzar's 1975 film, Mausam, and she played a supporting role as heroine Sarita Choudhury's mother in Mira Nair's 1991 film Mississippi Masala.

Her latest release is a Marathi film Samaantar by Amol Palekar. Her earlier releases were Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, brings together real life mother and son, Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan. They share screen space for the first time since Aashiq Awara (1993).

PERSONAL LIFE:-

Tagore converted to Islam and married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Nawab of Pataudi in a Nikah ceremony held on 27 December 1969. She took on the name Ayesha Sultan after her marriage. They have three children: Saif Ali Khan (b. 1970), Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan (b. 1978).

Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta rues she hasn’t got enough opportunities in Bollywood to showcase her talent despite being around for four years. But the National Award winner is excited about sharing screen space with none other than Shah Rukh Khan – in an ad film.

“Yes, Bollywood couldn’t recognise my talent to the extent expected,” Rituparna, who forayed into the Hindi film industry with “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh” in 2005, told IANS on phone from Kolkata.
She was then seen in box office duds like “Unns – Love…Forever”, “Gauri – The Unborn” and “Sirf – Life Looks Greener on the Other Side”.
Rituparna believes she could have made a mark in the Hindi film industry if she had had the advantage of Bollywood lineage or contacts.
“It’s difficult to make a mark in Bollywood if you do not belong to a film family or have proper contacts. Talent speaks when you get proper opportunity,” said Rituparna.
Her consolation is that she got a chance to share screen space with superstar Shah Rukh in an ad film for Sona Chandi Chyawanprash. She plays his wife in it.
“It was an amazing experience to work with Shah Rukh. He is cordial and the kind of person who values time,” she said.
Asked if she was nervous about working with the actor, she said: “I was very nervous when I got to know that I would be opposite Shah Rukh. I have a huge fan following, but personally I am a great fan of his.”
Rituparna shared her first National Award for Best Actress with Bengali peer Indrani Haldar for her role in Rituparno Ghosh’s “Dahan” in 1998 and recently won the same for Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Bengali film “Anuranan”.
Right now she is looking forward to her forthcoming Hindi movie “Paroksh”. It is Anup Das’ directorial debut and the filmmaker has woven a captivating story around a surrogate mother.
“It’s a very women-oriented film. The story is so contemporary that a woman can easily relate herself with the characters,” added Rituparna, who recently did the dialogue promotion for director David Dhawan’s “Do Knot Disturb” along with actor Riteish Deshmukh.
“When David Dhawan approached me for it, I happily agreed. Riteish is a nice guy and a fantastic person to work with,” she said.
Asked if she had taken Hindi lessons during her initial days in Bollywood, she said: “No, I knew the language and I do my own dubbing.”
Rituparna has also proved her talent as a playback singer in a song featured on her in “Anuranan”.
“I sung it only to sync sound as my director said he would get it professionally sung later. But he liked it so much that he kept it as it is. Thus I made my debut as a playback singer,” said Rituparna.
The actress has finished shooting for two more Hindi films – Ajay Varma’s “S.R.K” and Faisal Saif’s “Osama”. She will also be seen in Priyadarshan’s Hindi version of Iranian film “Children of Heaven”.
